Welcome to the original home of Sydney's bohemian, eccentric and socialite societies.

Originally, the preferred address of self-made early settlers it eventually took a different turn in the roaring 20s and throughout the Great Depression. The artists, eclectics and European immigrants moved in and transitioned the area into a one-of-a-kind destination in Sydney.

Prior to its creative life, Potts Point was the address of choice for many who made their way to the new found land of Australia and set about making their fortunes and leaving their mark, one such person was John Henry Challis (1806-1880), a self-made millionaire who is still remembered by the generous legacy he left behind.

By train: Approximately 30-45 minutes. You will require an Opal Card to travel, purchased from the station, Relay or WH Smith. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes, change at Central Station for trains to Kings Cross. Hotel Challis is a 7-10 minute walk from Kings Cross station.

By taxi/rideshare: Approximately 30-45 minutes. Follow signs to the taxi rank at the front of all terminals. For rideshare arrange to meet your driver at the dedicated priority pick-up area.

Off-site parking is available at Secure's Kings Cross parking station on Ward Avenue, behind the Fountain and the Police Station.

This is approximately a 7-minute walk to the property. The maximum height clearance for vehicles is 2 metres.

FLEXIBLE: If you have booked the Best Available Rate, cancellation is free of charge until 2pm, 48 hours prior to your arrival date. Any booking modifications, including date changes and/or a full cancellation of your booking made within 48 hours of 2pm on your arrival date will incur a charge equivalent to the value of the first night booked. Any booking modifications requested after check in must occur at least 48 hours prior to the change taking place to avoid any charges. Payment will be taken upon check-in.

NON-REFUNDABLE: If you have booked a non-refundable or promotional rate (including all Stay & Save rates), any cancellation will incur the full cost of the booking. Booking modifications, including date changes are not allowed. Non-refundable bookings will be charged in full upon confirmation.

Yes, rooms are serviced daily by housekeeping. If your stay exceeds 5 nights a full linen change is provided in the middle of your stay. If you require an unscheduled, full room cleaning service during your stay, this can be arranged at Reception for a fee of $35. We pride ourselves in providing clean accommodation so please talk to Reception if you have seen something that needs to be addressed.

Are the rooms serviced daily?

Yes, rooms are serviced daily by housekeeping. If your stay exceeds 5 nights a full linen change is provided in the middle of your stay.

If you require an unscheduled, full room cleaning service during your stay, this can be arranged at Reception for a fee of $35.

Bayswater Bru is located out the front of the property. This cafe is open daily for breakfast and lunch from Monday - Saturday.

Do you have a lift / elevator?
Yes. There is lift access to four of the five floors of the property. Please note there are a few steps at the entrance to The Bayswater Sydney.

St Vincents Hospital is located at 390 Victoria St, Darlinghurst and is 650m from The Bayswater Sydney. St Lukes Private Hospital is located on Roslyn Street, Potts Point. This is approximately 350m from The Bayswater Sydney.

What are the reception's operating hours?

Monday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 6:30 pm

Sunday: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

If you are arriving after hours please contact MAISONETTE direct to find out the late arrival instructions.

Please note that guests staying 1-night must check-in by 6:30 pm (close of reception). It is not possible for guests staying one night to check in outside normal reception opening times.

The front door to the property is locked for security purposes when reception is closed. Your room key will allow you access to the building after the doors are closed so please ensure you keep it with you at all times. Our Front Desk team will assist you if you have any issues accessing the building after hours.

How do I get there?

GETTING HERE FROM THE AIRPORT:

By shuttle bus: Approximately 45-60 minutes. Information desks are located in the arrivals hall at both the T1 International and T3 Domestic terminals.

By train: Approximately 30-45 minutes. You will require an Opal Card to travel, purchased from the station, Relay or WH Smith. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes, change at Central Station for trains to Kings Cross. The Maisonette is a 10 minute walk from Kings Cross station.

By taxi/rideshare: Approximately 30-45 minutes. Follow signs to the taxi rank at the front of all terminals. For rideshare arrange to meet your driver at the dedicated priority pick-up area.

Is on-site parking available?

No, there is no on-site parking available at The Maisonette.

Off-site parking is available at Wilson's Kings Cross parking station on Ward Avenue, behind the Fountain for a discounted rate of $25. It's only an 8 minute walk to The Maisonette. This parking arrangement does not allow you to take your car in and out throughout the day - each discount ticket is for a 24 hour period and includes a one-time entry and one-time exit. It is most important that you collect and pay for your discount parking ticket from Reception, prior to returning to your car.

How far is it to the train station?
Kings Cross Train Station on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line is a 10 minute walk to The Maisonette.
