Sydney Theatre is back Live!

The Sydney Opera House is open for live performances again from 1 November 2020.  There's something for everyonen at "the House" from comedy theatre and standup, drama, burlesque and musicals.  Plus experience the new intimate dining ensembles at Bennelong, complete with the SSO (Sydney Symphony Orchestra) as live accompaniment to your entree, main and dessert.

Some of Sydney's famous venues and largest theatres include:

The Lyric Theatre is opening with Pippin, the muscial on 24 November 2020 and then Hamilton from March 2021

The Capitol Theatre will be opening with Disney's Frozen the musical from 1 December 2020.

The Sydney Theatre Company has Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray on stage from 24 November at the Roslyn Packer Theatre.  Some shows with the Sydney Theatre Company also play at the Sydney Opera House's Drama Theatre or The Studio. Look out for the last of the popular Wharf Revue in March 2021, it's the last one ever - after 20 years this comedy institution says Good Night and Good Luck

The State Theatre starts back as one of the Southern Great Night's 1000 Gigs of Live Music to help kick start live music again starting in November 2020.

The ICC Aware Super Theatre is not open for Shows until April 2021, with Guy Sebastian later in the year.

  • The Griffin Theatre Company at the Stables Theatre is just a short walk across the road from the Coke Sign in Nimrod Ave, Darlinghurst is one of Sydney's original Fringe theatres and has some excellent drama with a very intimate stage. 
  • The Kings Cross Theatre is a new theatre group that have opened on Level 3 of the Kings Cross Hotel.
  • The Bamboozle Room is very close to Springfield at middle level of the local pub - the Potts Point Hotel, a cabaret night with a bit of sparkle and burlesque.
  • The Hayes Theatre is a Potts Point local's favourite in Greenknowe Ave and known for its musical and cabaret productions.
  • The Darlinghurst Theatre or Eternity Playhouse, is just down the road in Burton Street Darlinghurst. 
  • The Belvoir is in Surry Hills, on the Light Rail Service from Randwick to the City.
