Cho Cho San offers modern Japanese dishes paired with an impressive cocktail list. The restaurant interior is quite minimalistic but also gives an intimate feel as you sit in front of the chef at the long dining bar. The only colour comes from the sprifit, schochu and saki bottles behind the bar, stacked to the top, if you're into your sakes their list is long.
It's a fabulous way to try a unique twist on Izakaya style dining at Cho Cho San. Make your chopsticks sing with the fresh raw scallops, with corn, nori puree and house-cured smoked bonito. The light and fluffy steamed buns filled with smokey duck or spanner crab is to die for plus you must try dry udon noodles they are rich and spicy – like a Japanese bolognese with chilli-bean paste, ginger and pork. The seafood and meat sections are a little more traditionally Japanese with prawns cooked over the hibachi grill and chicken yakitori with pickled lime and sprinkled with spicy shichimi.
All this talk about food makes me hungry!
