The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), is one of Australia’s leading museums celebrating the work of today's living artists, bringing wonderful exhibitions from Australia and around the world making art available for everyone.
They offer a diverse program of exhibitions and special events, from major themed exhibitions to solo works of established artists and new work by emerging artists, touring exhibitions and community-led projects they cover the whole range and diversity of contemporary art. The MCA Collection contains over 4000 works by Australian artists, with a strong commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Located right next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the MCA stands on a land rich in cultural and historical significance to the traditional owners of this place, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.

General admission to the galleries, cafe and temporary exhibitions is free. Admission fee is required for major summer exhibitions and the Sydney International Art Series.
Covid 19 Update: The MCA will reopen on Tuesday 16 June, with enhanced health, safety and social distancing measures in place. The 22nd Biennale of Sydney, 'Nirin', will be on display. The Museum will open on Tuesdays to Sundays, 10am–5pm, with a closure on Mondays. The MCA Store, MCA Cafe and Sculpture Terrace will also reopen on 16 June, while Graze Restaurant will reopen on 30 June.
- Enjoy a lovely walk around Woolloomooloo Bay (down McElhone Stairs) to ArtSpace have a coffee or lunch along the Finger Wharf at Woollomooloo, then walk up the stairs to the Art Gallery of NSW and then across The Royal Botanic Garden, past the Sydney Opera House around Circular Quay to the Museum of Contemporary Art which sits just next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge at The Rocks.
