Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is one of Australia’s most famous and well-loved events, bringing thousands of visitors to Sydney to join in the celebrations. It captures the imagination of Australia’s LGBTQI and mainstream communities, taking over the city for weeks on end, culminating in the world-famous Parade: a colourful and dazzling night of pride, celebration and self-expression.
The theme for the 41st Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival is FEARLESS. Fearless does not mean we have no fear – everyone experiences fear, it’s a part of who we are. Fearless means living our lives in a courageous way, taking action despite your fears.
The Parade | Saturday 2 March | from 7:00 pm
A bustling extravaganza that brings Sydney to a standstill and shines a global spotlight on LGBTQI lives, culture, communities and creativity. With spectacular floats, thousands of participants, a veritable smorgasbord of glittering colour and dynamic shape, the parade showcases the glitz and glamour of our community. Make your way to Oxford Street or Flinders Street early to secure a good spot!
The Party | Saturday 2 March | 10:00 pm onwards
This sold out event is being held at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. The Mardi Gras Party is Australia’s biggest LGBTQI event of the year and is renowned for its incredible DJ line-up, spectacular live performances and hedonistic happenings.
Fair Day | Sunday 17 February | from 10:00 am
Held in Victoria Park, Broadway, Fair Day is a free, family and fur-baby friendly day out! Fair Day’s an out-and-out, full-on fabulous day of fun and adventure where you can chill with a picnic spread, browse the community stalls or kick up your heels and have a dance.
