The Art Gallery of New South Wales opened in 1874 to promote art through exhibitions, lectures and art classes. Exhibitions in the gallery change frequently and there are numerous pop-up exhibitions throughout the year. General admission to the Gallery, most exhibitions and guided tours are free.
