Circular Quay

Circular Quay is a hub for the city's transport and next door to the Overseas Passenger Terminal, where all Cruise Ships sail into Sydey Harbour and dock.

It is flanked by the Sydney Opera House, The Rocks and the famous "Coathanger" Sydney's Harbour Bridge.

There is always something to watch at Circular Quay, with many street entertainers, indigenous displays and a fun people watching spot.

Known as "The Quay" (pronounced Key) you will find the major ferry terminal for all destinations including:

Taronga Park Zoo, Watson's Bay and Rose Bay, Barangaroo & King Street Wharf restaurant precinct, Manly and the leafy lower north shore suburbs, the River Cruise to Parramatta, Captain Cook Cruise and dining ferries as well as Whale Watching Tours - we recommend Whale Watching Sydney (Seasonal - May to July and October to November).

Circular Quay has an above ground train station on the Inner City Circle to Airport Line and is the end point of the new Sydney Light Rail System that comes directly into the City from our properties in Randwick. It is an easy 20 min walk to Circular Quay from our Potts Point properties, or 4 stops on the train (changing at Town Hall).

Tip: There are many bars and restaurants located at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Head there at sunset for views of the Opera House while enjoying a drink or dining.

OPAL CARD

Opal is the smartcard ticketing system used to pay for travel on public transport in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Illawarra. Add value before you travel and tap on and off to pay your fare.

Depending on which card you need, there are a number of ways to get an Opal card. Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards are available over the counter from Opal retailers, including convenience stores and newsagents, while concession cards must be applied for online.

There is no charge for an Opal card, however a minimum top up value of $20 for an adult card, or $10 for a child or concession card, applies at retailers or when using top up machines. Top up amounts of $10 for adult and $5 for child or concession are available when topping up online.

You can also use contactless payments as an alternative to travelling with an Adult Opal card. You can also purchase Opal single trip tickets, however prices are more expensive than using an Opal card and some stations, stops and wharves do not sell them.
