Celebrate Chinese New Year with the Lunar New Year at Sydney Lunar Festival, produced by the City of Sydney.

This vibrant arts festival has a program bursting with cultural events, markets, foodie tours, exhibitions and entertainment to welcome in the new year.

Don’t miss these iconic events :

LUNAR LANTERN WALK 

Follow the glow from Circular Quay around The Rocks and dotted around the CBD all the way up to Chinatown in Haymarket to discover 12 larger-than-life animal signs of the Lunar zodiac. Each lantern will be lit at dusk, the Lunar Lanterns are a creative, contemporary interpretation of a centuries-old tradition.

THE ROCKS LUNAR MARKET – FOODIES DELIGHT  Friday – Sundays from 10.00am to late during the Festival

The Markets at The Rocks will bring your senses to life, with the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Asian Street Food.  This year red lanterns will be lighting and decorating the pathway along the cobblestone streets and market hawkers will be enticing the passing parade with sizzling suggestions to sample.  Enjoy the traditional Lion Dancing of an evening or free Calligraphy classes, Mahjong games and Chinese Zodiac readings during the day.

OXAPALOOSA FESTIVAL  Every Day of the Festival at World Square

Join in the party of fun of the Lucky 8 Coin Hunt, indulge in the Lunar New Year banquest being prepared, follow yummy food trails around World Square, catch the lion dances, feast your eyes on some brilliant artwork and follow the leader through a maze of lantern laneways.
