6 am: The alarm’s set
I set my alarm for 6 am, hang on a minute it’s my weekend getaway, let’s make it 7am I do need my beauty sleep.
7 am: Morning Walk
Shall I grab a freshly baked pastry or nibble on a doughnut on the way? No not yet – I need to earn it first – let’s go. I take off at a cool calm pace down Coogee Bay Road towards the beach. At this time of the day the area is buzzing with people exercising, yoga classes, dog walking, swimming and surfing across the bay, it’s a hive of activity. Three deep breaths and my lungs are full of that fresh salty air – I decide to do a quick jog to Clovelly Beach and back, it’s not as busy as the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk at this time of the day. I circle around my favourite Gordon’s Bay – a little piece of paradise and watch the early morning Scuba Diving class submerge into the Underwater Nature Trail off Clovelly. Maybe they’ll spot Bluey the local Groper fish, he swims around wagging his body and tail to welcome you into his sparkling blue sanctuary. I have a dip in the calm waters of Clovelly and swim up and down a few laps then it’s out wrap a towel around – and I could walk a bit further to Bronte and it’s famous bogeyhole for a swim, but now I’m hungry.
8 am: Sip & Savour Local – coffee and breakfast
